The “cremonese” or denaro cremonese was the smallest unit in the Cremona monetary system, weighing about 0.3 grams and about 14 mm in size, and valued at ¼ an imperial denaro or ½ a denaro inforziato. According to MEC 12, it was struck intermittently with small design changes from the beginnings of the mint around 1155 until the end of the Commune in 1330. Day et al. in MEC 12 attribute the type pellets in the quadrants of the cross, and with the A having a crossbar to 1180s-1230s.
